E27 (ES) LED GLS Bulb 13.5W 1521lm - Warm White 3000K, 4 Pack

This is a GLS bulb, the classic rounded household shape, with an E27 screw cap and an LED board sitting behind a white diffusing cover. It draws 13.5W and returns 1521 lumens, which puts it at the bright end of what a standard house lamp is asked to do: the pack gives it as a 100W replacement, so it is the one to reach for where an old 100W incandescent used to sit rather than a 60W. The light is 3000K warm white, a soft yellow-leaning white close to the colour most people remember from filament bulbs. Each box holds four bulbs.

E27 is the larger of the two screw caps in common UK use, sometimes printed as ES. If you are unsure which you have, take the old bulb out and look at the thread: E27 measures about 27mm across, where the smaller E14 candle cap measures 14mm. The beam spreads across 240 degrees, close to all round, so light reaches the ceiling and the walls as well as the floor. That suits a pendant under a fabric or paper shade, a standard lamp in a living room corner, a hallway fitting or a kitchen ceiling rose, and it makes this a poor match for anything needing a tight pool of light. The IP20 rating means it is built for ordinary dry indoor rooms.

It is not dimmable, so pair it with a plain on and off switch; an LED without dimming support can flicker or buzz on a dimmer circuit. The pack prints a 15 year lifespan, and the energy label rates it E at 14kWh per 1000 hours. Boxes of four are sold in multiples of 16, which is the sort of quantity that covers a whole house or a rental changeover in one go. Will this replace the 100W bulb that used to be in my pendant?

Yes. The pack gives 13.5W as a 100W replacement, and at 1521 lumens it is one of the brighter E27 LED bulbs you can fit to a standard household lampholder.

How do I know whether my fitting takes E27 or E14?

Unscrew the old bulb and measure the thread. E27, also printed as ES, is about 27mm across; the narrower candle cap, E14 or SES, measures roughly 14mm.

Can I put this on a dimmer switch?

No. It is non-dimmable, so it needs a plain on and off switch. On a dimmer circuit a non-dimming LED can flicker, buzz or fail early.

What does 3000K warm white actually look like?

It is a soft white with a slight yellow lean, close to old filament light. Cooler than 4000K, which reads crisp and slightly blue, and clearer than a 2700K bulb.

Will the light spread, or does it point one way?

The 240 degree beam angle is close to all round, so it lights the ceiling and walls as well as the surfaces below, which suits shades and open pendants.

How many bulbs do I get for my order?

One box holds four bulbs, and the minimum order is 16 boxes in multiples of 16, so the smallest order gives you 64 bulbs in total.
