Description

This is a round LED ceiling light measuring 250mm across, with a silver rim around a plain white diffuser and a shallow body that sits close to the ceiling. The LEDs are built in, so there is no separate bulb to buy now and none to replace later. It draws 11.5W and gives 900 lumens at 3000K, a warm white that reads soft and gently yellow rather than clinical. The unit is rated IP44, which means it is protected against water splashing at it from any direction.

That rating is what makes it a bathroom fitting. IP44 covers zones 1 and 2, so it can go on the ceiling above a bath or over a shower enclosure, but not in zone 0, which is the inside of the bath or the shower tray itself. A 250mm diameter suits a small to average bathroom on its own, and two or three spaced along a longer room will light it evenly without shadows at the far end. Because the body is shallow it works where a pendant would be in the way, which makes it equally at home in a cloakroom, a utility room or a hallway.

It is not dimmable, so wire it to a plain switch or a pull cord rather than a trailing edge dimmer; a dimmer fitted to a driver not designed for one will flicker and can shorten its life. The energy class is E. It is sold as one light and the minimum order is one. Yes. The IP44 rating covers zones 1 and 2, which includes the ceiling above a bath or a shower enclosure. It must not go in zone 0, the inside of the bath or tray.

Does it need a bulb, and what happens when the LED reaches the end of its life?

No bulb is needed. The LEDs are built into the fitting, so there is no cap type to match and nothing to unscrew; when the unit eventually fails the whole light is replaced.

Will it work on a dimmer switch?

No. The specification lists it as not dimmable, so it should run from an ordinary switch or a bathroom pull cord. A dimmer will usually cause flicker and can shorten the driver's life.
