Energizer Capsule G9 1.8W Clear Non-Dimmable - Daylight 6500K, 2 Pack

A G9 LED capsule bulb, supplied in a box of two. It draws 1.8W and puts out 200 lumens at 6,500K, which is the daylight end of the white scale: clean and bright, and noticeably cooler than the yellow of an old halogen capsule. The body is clear rather than frosted, so the small LED chips sit on show inside the casing, and the base finishes in the pair of looped wire pins that a G9 holder grips. The pack gives it as a replacement for a 20W halogen capsule.

G9 is a push fit rather than a twist fit, and it turns up wherever space is tight: slim wall lights, small pendants, multi arm ceiling fittings, plinth and under cabinet strips, desk lamps and picture lights. At 6,500K the light reads as daylight rather than as anything cosy, so it earns its keep over a kitchen worktop, in a utility room, at a dressing table, or in a garage or workshop fitting where you want colours and detail to read true. For a sitting room or a bedroom, where warmth matters more than clarity, a 2,700K or 3,000K lamp is the better pick.

These are not dimmable, so they want a plain on and off switch; a non dimmable LED on a dimmer can flicker, buzz or refuse to light. The energy rating is E. The pack prints a 15 year lifespan and 15,000 hours of use, and notes that the 200 lumen figure is measured in a sphere. One unit here is a box of two bulbs, and the minimum order is 12, sold in multiples of 12, so a full order brings 24 bulbs: enough for a multi lamp fitting with spares kept back. Will these fit my existing G9 fitting?

Yes. The two looped wire pins push straight into a standard G9 holder with no twist or clip needed, and if the lamp coming out is a halogen G9 capsule the holder is the same one.

Can I use these on a dimmer switch?

No. The specification gives them as non dimmable, so run them from a plain on and off switch, or from a smart switch that cuts the supply rather than trimming it.

How bright is 1.8W in practice, and what does it replace?

The output is 200 lumens, and the retail pack gives the lamp as a replacement for a 20W halogen capsule of the same G9 fitting.

What does 6,500K daylight actually look like?

It is a cool white with no yellow in it, close to overcast daylight. Good over worktops and benches, and less suited to a room you want to feel warm in the evening.

How long does the manufacturer say they last?

The retail pack prints a 15 year lifespan and a 15,000 hour lifespan. Real world life depends on how often the lamp is switched and how well the fitting lets heat escape.

Is an IP rating or a beam angle stated?

Neither is given. The specification and the pack are both silent on IP rating and beam angle, so we state neither. The pack does note that the 200 lumen figure is measured in a sphere.
