Description

The Endo plant stand is a hemispherical iron bowl set into a ring at the top of a tall iron frame, 55cm high overall, with the bowl 22cm across and holding 3000ml. The frame is two long lengths of thin square section rod bent into U shapes and crossed at the floor, so the footprint is an X and the stand reads as line rather than mass. The bowl is reclaimed iron, near black with a satin sheen, with a broad ochre band of rust running round the belly and a paler grey band inside the rim.

At 55cm the bowl stands about as high as the arm of a chair, which puts a fern or a leafy plant at eye level for anyone sitting down rather than at floor level. Standing free on its own legs it needs floor rather than surface: a corner, the side of a sofa, the gap between a window and a wall.

The frame and the bowl are both iron. The frame is a flat black and the bowl is left reclaimed, so the rust and the dark patina are what the metal carries rather than a coat applied over it, and no two bowls are marked the same way. The Endo range also holds a taller plant stand, hanging planters in two sizes, floor planters, globe planters and vases.
