The Elsoren is a flush ceiling light that keeps close to the ceiling and lights a single bulb inside a clear glass shade. A round ceiling plate carries a short lampholder, and below it sits a stepped cone of clear glass that widens towards the rim, so the bulb stays in full view. It is 23cm tall and 18cm across, made from brass and glass, and it comes in six finishes: Antique Silver, Antique Brass, Polished Brass, Polished Chrome, Polished Copper and Satin Brass. It takes one E27 bulb of up to 40W, and bulbs are sold separately, so you choose your own.

We think it suits a hallway best. A fitting that sits this close to the ceiling leaves plenty of headroom where people pass through, and the clear glass lets the light out without colouring it. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms indoors only. The choice of finish lets you match it to the handles, switches and other metalwork around it: Antique Silver and Antique Brass have a softer, aged look, Polished Brass, Polished Chrome and Polished Copper have a bright shine, and Satin Brass has a gentler glow somewhere in between. For a long hallway, a row of them along the ceiling keeps the look consistent from one end to the other.

It is a mains fitting, wired in to the mains by a qualified electrician, so plan for that when you choose where it goes. The maker guarantees the fittings it makes for five years from the date of purchase, and bulbs are not covered. When you order, pick the finish that matches the metalwork in your hallway, and we will have it made in that finish for you.
