A table lamp, 57cm tall, in gold. At 14cm wide it is about the width of a laptop.

A warm metal finish reflects light yellow rather than white, which is why gold and brass make a room feel warmer at the same brightness. It also reads as softer against warm woods and darker paint, where a cool finish can look stark. Brass warms a room in a way chrome and steel do not, because it reflects light yellow rather than white. Unlacquered, it will darken slowly and unevenly with handling, which most people come to prefer. It comes with its shade, so there is no second purchase to make it usable.

E14 lampholder, 1 of them up to 10-12W LED, and no bulb in the box. Because it is E14, bulbs are stocked everywhere and you are never tied to one supplier. There is no dimmer, so the character of the light is set by the bulb you choose: 2700K reads warm, 4000K reads cool and clinical. The cable is black, with an in-line switch you can reach without groping behind furniture, and a uk 3 pin with 3 amp fuse already fitted.
