Elm 4 Light G9 Floor Lamp 40cm Long - Polished Chrome

Four clear glass shades sit along a slim polished chrome frame, each one holding a G9 capsule, so the light breaks into several small points rather than pooling in one place. The chrome is bright and reflective, the glass keeps the whole thing visually light, and at 1.55m tall it reads as slender rather than bulky. A foot switch on the flex saves reaching down to a socket. We would fit LED capsules of up to 10W in it.

Stood beside a sofa or an armchair, it fills a reading corner without the heaviness of a large drum shade, and the scattered lights are kind to a room with a low ceiling. It suits a bedroom corner or a dressing area equally well, and pairs happily with a table lamp of the same family. It is one we suggest where a tall shaded lamp would crowd the seating, since the glass lets you see past it. Dimming is possible if you choose dimmable capsules and add a separate dimmer; otherwise the foot switch handles it. Indoor, dry rooms only, on a normal household supply.

The build is glass and plated metal, double insulated throughout. Keep it looking right with a soft cloth over the chrome and a barely damp one for the glass, dried off straight away; switch off and let the capsules cool before you touch them. It carries a one year warranty. The clear shades show off the chrome rather than hiding it, which is worth remembering if the lamp will sit against a pale wall. Which lamps does it take?

It takes four G9 capsules, rated up to 10W each. We would use LED capsules, and they are supplied separately.

Can I dim it?

Yes, provided you fit dimmable G9 capsules and use a separate dimmer, which is not included. As standard it is switched by the foot switch on the flex.

How much space does it need?

It stands 1550mm tall, with a footprint of roughly 400mm by 310mm, so it tucks neatly to the side of a chair or sofa arm.

How do I clean the glass?

Switch off and let the capsules cool, then wipe each shade with a cloth wrung out in warm water and dry it at once. Avoid metal polishes and abrasive creams on the chrome.

Is it suitable for a bathroom?

No. It is rated IP20, which means dry indoor rooms such as living rooms, bedrooms and studies.

Is there a warranty?

It carries a one year warranty.
