Elm 4 Light G9 Floor Lamp 40cm Long - Antique Brass

Four clear glass shades sit on slim arms above an antique brass stem, each one holding a G9 capsule so the light scatters and glints through the glass rather than sitting behind a fabric shade. The proportions are upright and narrow-footed, and because the heads sit at different points on the frame the glow spreads outwards instead of pooling in a single spot. A foot switch on the flex means you tap it on as you walk past, with no reaching down behind furniture.

We reach for this one where a corner wants height and a bit of sparkle but not the bulk of a big shaded standard lamp: beside a sofa, in a reading corner, or paired either side of a fireplace. It suits sitting rooms, bedrooms and dressing areas, and settles in easily where there is already brass or warm metal in the room. Fit dimmable capsules and add a separate dimmer if you want to drop the level for the evening. Keep it to dry rooms indoors, as the open glass heads are not meant for bathrooms or covered porches.

The frame is metal in an antique brass finish, warm and slightly aged rather than bright, and the shades are plain clear glass that shows the capsule inside. It is double insulated. For upkeep, a dry microfibre cloth over the glass is enough; on the brass, a light wipe only, and keep polishes and sprays away from it so the finish stays even. It carries a one year warranty. What lamps does it take, and what is the maximum wattage?

It takes four G9 capsules, up to 10W each. We would fit LED capsules here for the lower running cost and cooler glass.

Can I dim it?

Yes, but only with dimmable G9 capsules and a suitable separate dimmer. Neither is supplied with the lamp.

How is it switched?

There is a foot switch on the flex, so it can be operated without bending down to the lamp itself.

How tall is it and how much floor space does it need?

It stands 1550mm tall and the base and frame occupy roughly 400mm by 310mm, so it tucks into a corner or beside a chair without crowding it.

How should I clean the glass shades?

Switch off at the socket and let everything cool, then dust the glass with a dry microfibre cloth. If the glass is marked, a barely damp cloth followed by a dry one will clear it.

Is it suitable for a bathroom?

No. It is rated IP20, which means dry indoor rooms only.
