Description
A jute cushion cover, 50cm square. The top half is solid rust, plain and unbroken, and below it the natural oatmeal of the undyed jute shows through a run of horizontal stripes printed in the same rust. The stripes start fine and close together where the solid band ends, and widen as they fall, until the lowest of them are broad bands with narrow pale gaps between. The weave is coarse and the printed edges sit soft against it rather than sharp.
At 50 x 50cm it takes a pad of the same size. The banding is asymmetric, with the solid half at the top and the stripes below, so which edge goes up changes the whole face of the cover. It suits a sofa back, a bed or an occasional chair, and it groups on a sofa with the 60 x 40cm rectangle in the same rust, which carries its solid band the other way up.
The fabric is jute throughout, woven on a handloom and softened before anything is printed on it, because jute is a coarse fibre to start with. The stripes are block printed by hand afterwards, which is why their edges sit into the weave rather than over it. Eesha is made in rust, ochre and sage green.

Frequently Asked
What size cushion pad does this cover take?
A 50 x 50cm pad.
How does it differ from the other rust cover?
This is the 50 x 50cm square, with the solid band across the top and the stripes widening below it. The other is a 60 x 40cm rectangle, with the solid band along the bottom and the stripes widening upward.
Are the stripes printed or woven?
Printed. The jute is woven on a handloom and the stripes are block printed onto it by hand.
What colours and sizes are there?
Rust, ochre and sage green, each in 50 x 50cm and 60 x 40cm.
How should it be washed?
Follow the label on the product. Many covers are washable, though some fabrics are spot clean only. Lift any liquid with an absorbent tissue first, then blot with a sponge or a clean folded towel moistened in lukewarm water, and dry with warm air from a hair dryer so no water mark forms. Larger stains should be dealt with professionally. Every cover is tested for colourfastness.
