Description

Echo is a free standing mirror 77cm wide and 193cm tall, built as a white powder coated metal frame of stacked horizontal slats that wrap round a curve at the base and carry a mirrored panel between them. The slats are separate bars with gaps between them, so the structure is open and you can see through the sides of it.

It stands on the floor rather than hanging, which is the whole proposition: at 193cm it gives a full length reflection and it can be moved. The 40cm of depth at the base is what keeps it upright, and at 60kg it is not a piece to reposition casually. The glass is mirrored on both faces, so it works in the middle of a room as a divider rather than only against a wall. It is not rated for a bathroom. Nothing is supplied to fix it to anything, because nothing needs to be. There is no assembly.

The frame is powder coated metal, which is a hard finish that takes knocks better than paint, and the slats are what carry the weight rather than a solid back panel. Clean the glass with cleaner on a cloth and run a dry brush along the slats rather than a wet cloth, since the gaps between them hold dust and are awkward to dry. Maarten De Ceulaer designed it and it is made in Belgium. It is the largest single piece in this part of the range and needs a floor that is close to level for the frame to sit true.
