Description

This Knightsbridge E27 vintage pendant holder combines a 152mm polished brass ceiling rose with a knurled brass lampholder on a black fabric-covered flex. The lampholder is pre-wired to a 150mm cable tail inside the ceiling rose, reducing installation time to connecting the tail to the mains circuit and fixing the rose to the ceiling.

Designed for single pendant installations in dining rooms, hallways, bedrooms and kitchens, the holder accepts any E27 bulb up to 60W and can be paired with a lampshade that has a 42mm internal ring diameter. The polished brass finish suits traditional, industrial and warm-toned interiors, while the knurled grip on the lampholder provides friction for tightening bulbs without tools. The black flex contrasts with the brass metalwork and is compatible with most ceiling heights in standard UK residential properties.

The Class II construction uses double-insulated components throughout, eliminating the need for an earth connection from the lampholder itself, though an earth terminal is provided in the ceiling rose for circuit continuity. The polished brass develops a natural patina over time; this can be left to mature or polished back to high shine using brass cleaner. The IP20 rating restricts use to dry indoor areas only — bathrooms and outdoor locations require higher-rated fittings.

What bulb does it take?

The holder takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED filament bulb between 4-8W and 2700K for a vintage aesthetic.

Can I add a lampshade?

Yes. The lampholder accepts any shade with a 42mm internal ring diameter, which is the standard size for most UK pendant shades. The shade ring sits on the knurled collar below the bulb fitting.

Is it dimmable?

Dimming depends on the bulb you fit. If you use a dimmable LED or halogen E27 bulb and pair it with a compatible dimmer switch on the circuit, the pendant will dim. Non-dimmable bulbs will not respond to dimmer controls.

Does the brass tarnish?

Polished brass develops a natural patina over time through exposure to air and handling. You can leave this to develop for an aged look, or polish it back to high shine using a standard brass cleaner and soft cloth.
