Description

This E27 to GU10 lamp socket converter allows a GU10 spotlight bulb to be fitted into an Edison screw (E27) lamp holder. The adapter screws into the existing E27 socket and provides a ceramic GU10 socket at the front, maintaining a 60W maximum load rating across the conversion.

Designed for situations where an existing E27 pendant fitting needs to accept a GU10 spotlight bulb without rewiring the ceiling rose, the converter is commonly used in kitchens, workshops and retail spaces where directed light is needed from a pendant position. The 54mm overall length and 35mm diameter body fit within most standard pendant shades and ceiling fittings without protruding.

The ceramic socket construction handles heat better than plastic alternatives and conforms to BS EN60238 for lamp holder safety. The adapter weighs 40g, light enough not to stress the existing lamp holder's screw thread when fitted. The E27 threaded base is nickel-plated brass for durability and conductivity.

Frequently Asked

What's the maximum wattage?

The converter is rated to 60W maximum load. This covers most GU10 LED bulbs (typically 3-7W) and halogen GU10 bulbs up to 50W, but check the total wattage of the bulb before fitting.

Will it fit inside a pendant shade?

The converter adds 54mm of length and has a 35mm diameter body. It will fit inside most standard pendant shades with an E27 holder, but check the internal clearance of the shade before purchase if space is tight.

Can it be used in enclosed fittings?

The ceramic construction handles heat well, but GU10 halogen bulbs generate significant heat in enclosed spaces. For enclosed fittings, use a low-wattage LED GU10 bulb rather than halogen to avoid overheating.

Is it compatible with dimmer switches?

The converter itself is passive and has no impact on dimming. Dimmer compatibility depends entirely on the GU10 bulb fitted—check the bulb's specification for dimmer compatibility.
