Description

This E27 to E14 lamp socket converter allows a small Edison screw (E14) bulb to be fitted into a standard Edison screw (E27) lamp holder. The adapter screws into the existing E27 socket, converting the 27mm threaded fitting down to a 14mm threaded socket that accepts E14 bulbs rated up to 60W.

The converter suits table lamps, floor lamps and decorative fittings where the existing E27 socket needs to accept a smaller E14 bulb, either because the replacement bulb is only available in E14 format or because the shade or fitting requires a smaller bulb profile. The 42mm overall length and 29mm diameter body fit within most lamp holder housings without obstruction.

The white thermoplastic body is heat-resistant and conforms to BS EN60238, the British and European standard for Edison screw lampholders. The adapter weighs 15g, adding negligible load to the fitting. Maximum bulb wattage is 60W across LED, halogen and filament technologies — exceeding this rating may cause overheating and is not recommended.

Frequently Asked

What does E27 to E14 mean?

E27 is a standard Edison screw base with a 27mm diameter thread, commonly used in UK and European light fittings. E14 is a small Edison screw base with a 14mm thread, often used in candelabra-style bulbs and smaller decorative fittings. This adapter converts the larger E27 socket to accept the smaller E14 bulb.

What is the maximum wattage?

The adapter is rated to 60W maximum. This applies to the total wattage of the bulb fitted into the E14 socket. Using a bulb above 60W may cause the adapter to overheat and is not recommended.

Does it work with LED bulbs?

Yes. The adapter works with LED, halogen and filament bulbs, provided the bulb has an E14 base and does not exceed 60W. Most E14 LED bulbs are between 4-7W, well within the rating.

Does it meet UK safety standards?

Yes. The adapter conforms to BS EN60238, the British and European standard for Edison screw lampholders, ensuring safe electrical contact and heat resistance.
