Description

The LYYT E27 to B22 lamp socket converter allows a bayonet cap (B22) bulb to be fitted into an Edison screw (E27) lamp holder. The adapter features a male E27 threaded base that screws into the existing lamp socket and a female B22 bayonet fitting at the top that accepts standard UK bayonet bulbs up to 60W.

Designed for situations where a lamp or pendant fitting has an E27 socket but you need to use a B22 bulb, or where you want to use an existing stock of bayonet bulbs in continental European-style fittings. The converter fits flush into the lamp holder once screwed in, adding 50mm of drop to the overall bulb position. The white thermoplastic body resists heat build-up under normal operating loads and the brass contact pins provide reliable electrical connection.

At 15g the converter adds minimal weight to the lamp assembly and the 32mm diameter sits within the typical shade collar of most E27 pendant fittings. The adapter conforms to BS EN60238, the British Standard for lamp holders and adapters, confirming that it meets safety requirements for electrical contact, heat resistance and mechanical strength under the rated 60W load.

Frequently Asked

What does E27 to B22 mean?

E27 is an Edison screw base (27mm diameter thread), common in continental European fittings. B22 is a bayonet cap, the standard UK bulb base with two pins that twist and lock. This adapter lets you fit a B22 bulb into an E27 socket.

What's the maximum wattage?

60W maximum. Using a bulb above this rating can cause overheating and damage the thermoplastic body of the adapter. LED bulbs typically draw far less than 60W even at high lumen outputs, so most modern bulbs are safe to use.

Does it add length to the bulb position?

Yes. The adapter is 50mm tall, so the bulb will sit 50mm lower in the fitting than it would without the converter. Check that your shade or fitting has clearance for this additional drop before installing.

Is it certified for UK use?

Yes. The adapter conforms to BS EN60238, the British and European standard for lamp holders and socket adapters, confirming it meets safety requirements for electrical contact, heat resistance and mechanical strength.
