Description

This lamp socket converter fits an E14 (small Edison screw) bulb holder and provides a GU10 bayonet socket, allowing GU10 spotlight bulbs to be used in fittings originally designed for E14 candle or golf ball bulbs. The converter is built from white thermoplastic with nickel-plated metal threads on the E14 screw base and internal spring contacts for the GU10 bulb.

Designed for chandeliers, wall lights and pendant fittings where the existing E14 socket cannot accommodate the required GU10 bulb type, the converter extends the fitting by 45mm from the original lampholder face. The 60W maximum load applies to both halogen and LED GU10 bulbs, though in practice most modern GU10 LEDs draw between 4-7W. The converter is not dimmable unless both the bulb and the circuit support dimming independently.

The white finish matches standard lamp holder bodies and hides inside most shades and open-frame fittings. The 30mm body diameter suits typical chandelier arm spacing without bulbs fouling adjacent arms. The converter weighs 30g, so when fitted with a GU10 bulb the combined weight remains well within the load capacity of most decorative lamp holders.

Frequently Asked

Can this be used with LED bulbs?

Yes. The 60W rating is the maximum load, so any GU10 LED bulb rated below 60W is compatible. Most GU10 LEDs draw between 4-7W, well within the converter's capacity.

Will it work in a dimmable circuit?

The converter itself is passive and does not prevent dimming, but both the GU10 bulb you fit and the dimmer circuit must be compatible for dimming to function correctly. A non-dimmable GU10 bulb will not dim even on a dimmable circuit.

How much does it extend the fitting?

The converter adds 45mm of length beyond the original E14 lampholder. Check that your shade or fitting has sufficient depth to accommodate the additional projection before ordering.

What is E14 and GU10?

E14 is a small Edison screw base, commonly used in chandelier candle bulbs and small golf ball bulbs. GU10 is a twist-and-lock bayonet base used in spotlight bulbs. This converter bridges the two base types, allowing a GU10 bulb to fit an E14 socket.
