Description

This E14 to E27 lamp socket converter is a thermoplastic adaptor that allows an E27 (Edison screw) bulb to be fitted into an E14 (small Edison screw) lamp holder. The male E14 thread screws into the existing lamp fitting, while the female E27 socket accepts the larger bulb base. The adaptor is rated to 60W maximum load and conforms to BS EN60238.

Designed for situations where an E14 fitting is already installed but an E27 bulb is needed, the converter suits table lamps, wall lights and pendant fittings where changing the entire lamp holder is impractical. The 65mm length extends the bulb position by approximately 6.5cm from the original socket, which may affect shade clearance or bulb visibility depending on the fitting.

The white thermoplastic body is heat-resistant and insulates the connection between the two thread types. At 20g the adaptor adds minimal weight to the bulb assembly, making it suitable for lightweight pendant shades and candle-style wall brackets. The 40mm diameter body fits through most shade apertures designed for E14 candle bulbs, though some narrow apertures may require the shade to sit slightly higher on the adaptor.

Frequently Asked

What bulbs can I use with this adaptor?

Any E27 bulb up to 60W maximum. This includes LED, halogen and filament bulbs. The adaptor does not affect bulb compatibility with dimmers — that depends on the bulb itself.

Does it extend the bulb position?

Yes. The adaptor adds 65mm to the overall length between the socket and the top of the bulb. Check that your shade or fitting has clearance for this extra length before installation.

Is it safe for enclosed fittings?

The adaptor conforms to BS EN60238 and is heat-resistant, but enclosed fittings trap more heat than open ones. Use LED bulbs (which run cooler) rather than halogen or filament in fully enclosed shades, and stay well below the 60W rating.

Can it be used outdoors?

No IP rating is specified, so the adaptor is intended for indoor use only. It carries no protection against moisture or dust ingress.
