Dryden 1 Light Bathroom Wall Light - Polished Chrome IP44

The Dryden is a single-light bathroom wall light with a polished chrome arm and backplate, supporting an elongated opal glass shade banded at top and bottom with chrome detail. The fitting carries an IP44 rating, making it suitable for bathroom zones 2 and 3 where it may encounter water spray, and includes a 3W G9 LED bulb producing 3000K warm white light through the opal glass.

Designed for bathroom mirror lighting, hallway accent positions, or bedroom reading positions, the Dryden mounts vertically on a 100mm circular backplate and projects 110mm from the wall. The 400mm height suits positioning beside bathroom mirrors or as pairs flanking a vanity unit. The opal glass diffuses the LED evenly, avoiding harsh spots on reflective surfaces, while the chrome banding at top and bottom gives the shade a defined silhouette against tiled walls.

The solid brass construction beneath the polished chrome finish gives the fitting a 1.2kg weight that feels substantial on installation. The chrome itself is mirror-polished rather than brushed, providing high reflectivity that pairs with chrome taps, showerheads and bathroom accessories. The G9 LED is pre-installed and can be replaced if needed, though at 3W the expected lifespan exceeds 15,000 hours of typical bathroom use.

What bathroom zones is the Dryden suitable for?

The IP44 rating makes the Dryden suitable for bathroom zones 2 and 3 where it may encounter water spray from a shower or basin, but not direct water jets. Zone 2 covers areas within 60cm of a bath or shower tray; zone 3 extends 2.4m horizontally from the basin or shower. The fitting is not suitable for zone 0 (inside the bath or shower) or zone 1 (directly above the bath or shower to a height of 2.25m).

Can the LED bulb be replaced?

Yes. The 3W G9 LED bulb is pre-installed and user-replaceable. Standard G9 LEDs are available in multiple colour temperatures if you prefer a cooler white than the supplied 3000K warm white.

How is the Dryden installed?

The 100mm circular backplate fixes to a standard UK wall box or surface-mounted terminal block with two screws. The chrome arm and shade then attach to the backplate, concealing the wiring. The fitting must be earthed. Installation requires a qualified electrician and isolation of the lighting circuit at the consumer unit.

Is it dimmable?

Dimmer compatibility depends on the specific G9 LED installed. The supplied 3W LED is typically non-dimmable. If dimming is required, replace the bulb with a dimmable G9 LED and pair with a trailing-edge LED-compatible dimmer switch.
