Description

This is a small ceiling fitting built around a single E27 lampholder, finished in gilt bronze with black alongside it. Measuring 10cm across, it gives a tidy, compact shape at the ceiling and leaves the lamp itself to do the decorating. Pick a clear globe or a shaped filament lamp and the glass becomes the light; pick an opal one and the output is quieter and more diffused. It will dim, provided the lamp and the dimmer are both suited to the job.

Rooms where a hanging light would only get in the way are where this earns its keep: hallways, landings, cloakrooms, box rooms and understairs cupboards. We use them in runs as well, spaced evenly along a corridor or above a worktop, each one holding a decorative lamp. They suit anyone kitting out a whole floor on a budget, since most of the cost sits in the lamps rather than the fittings. It is also a sensible choice for a rented flat, where a plainer fitting draws no attention. Keep them to dry rooms indoors; a bathroom or a porch wants something sealed instead.
