Description

Small ceiling fittings earn their keep where there is little height to give away, and this one measures just 10cm across. The antique copper finish has a warm, gently aged tone that sits happily against white plaster and softer paint colours. A single E27 socket sits at the heart of it, so the lamp you choose does much of the visual work: a clear globe, a squirrel cage or a plain opal will each read quite differently from below. Rated to 20W, it is at its best with LED.

We reach for it in hallways, landings, box rooms and stairwells, and anywhere a pendant would hang too low for comfort. It suits a utility room, a stair turn, or a small bedroom where a full shade would crowd the space, and used in a row down a corridor it gives even light without asking to be looked at. With a dimmable lamp and a compatible dimmer, the level can be taken down in the evening. Keep it to dry rooms on a normal household supply, away from bathrooms and open porches.

The body is compact and light in the hand, with the finish carried evenly over the whole shell so it looks of a piece once in place. Dusting with a dry microfibre cloth keeps it right; if fingerprints show, a barely damp cloth followed by a proper dry is plenty, and household polishes or cream cleaners are best kept well away from the antique copper. It carries a one year warranty. We stock the same fitting in matt black, matt white, polished chrome, antique brass, black chrome, satin nickel, gilt bronze and pewter, so a set can be matched to the door furniture or switch plates already in the room.
