Description

Small, plain and quietly finished, this is a compact ceiling fitting measuring 10cm across, in antique brass with the softened, warm tone that name suggests. It takes a single E27 lamp, which leaves the character of the light to you: a clear filament globe for a little sparkle, or an opal capsule when you would rather the fitting stayed in the background. With a suitable lamp and a compatible dimmer, it will dim. We keep it as a straightforward answer for rooms that need light without fuss.

Hallways, landings, box rooms and cloakrooms are its natural home, along with the top of a staircase where headroom is tight. We would fit it in a cottage or a flat with a low ceiling, where a pendant would hang into the way, and it suits a rented place where you want something better looking than what came with the tenancy. Rated for dry rooms indoors, it belongs in a bedroom, kitchen or landing rather than a shower room or an open porch. Run a line of them down a long corridor and the effect stays tidy and even.

The brass carries an aged sheen rather than a bright polish, which lets it sit happily against older woodwork and warm paint colours, and the whole thing is small and light enough to go almost unnoticed until the light is on.
