Dreifa Ceiling Box 11cm - Matt Black

This is the small round ceiling box from the Dreifa range, a shallow disc measuring 11cm across that finishes a pendant neatly where the flex meets the ceiling. The matt black finish is flat rather than glossy, so it reads as a quiet dark circle rather than a bright spot. It arrives complete with its own cable grip, earth wire and three pole terminal block, so the working parts come supplied alongside the cover itself.

We reach for these when a pendant is being built up from parts and the ceiling end needs to match the lampholder, the flex and the shade above it. Matt black works hard against pale ceilings, dark paint and bare timber alike, which makes it an easy choice in kitchens, hallways, stairwells and bedrooms. It is non-electrical in itself, so brightness and colour of light are decided by the fitting it serves and the lamp you put in it. Anyone assembling a bare-bulb pendant, or replacing a tired white plastic cover with something better judged, will find it useful.

The finish is a flat, low sheen black that stays discreet on a dark ceiling and draws a crisp outline on a pale one. How should I clean the matt black finish?
