A small ceiling box finished in warm, aged copper, this one measures 11cm across and sits close against the ceiling rather than dropping below it. It arrives with its working parts included: a cable grip, an earth wire and a three pole terminal block, so the flex and its connections are kept tidy and out of view. The face is plain and unfussy, a shallow disc that reads as part of the light above it rather than a separate piece of hardware.

We reach for these when a pendant hangs on its own flex and the top of the cable wants finishing as neatly as the lampholder does. They suit bare lampholder pendants over a kitchen island, a line of flexes above a dining table, or a single drop beside a bed. The copper tone works well against dark paint, brick and warm timber, and it sits happily alongside brass or amber glass elsewhere in the room. It is a piece for anyone treating the cable itself as part of the look.

The antique copper is softened and darkened rather than bright, so fingerprints show far less than they would on a polished surface. An occasional pass with a dry microfibre cloth keeps it looking well; metal polishes and cleaning sprays will lift the aged tone and are best kept away from it. It carries a one year warranty.
