Description

Every pendant built up from parts needs something neat where the flex meets the ceiling, and this is that piece: a shallow round cover in aged pewter, 11cm across, with a low profile that keeps its presence to a minimum. Inside are the working components, a cable grip, an earth wire and a three pole terminal block, so the connections and the flex are held tidily behind the cover. The aged pewter reads as a soft, clouded grey with darker shading in the recesses rather than a bright shine.

We keep these for people making up a light their own way: flex cut to the length the room asks for, a lampholder they have chosen and a shade to match. That makes it useful above a dining table where the drop matters, over a kitchen island, beside a bed or down a stairwell. It is just as good as a tidy-up for an older pendant whose ceiling piece has gone tired or no longer suits the finish of the rest. It belongs indoors, in dry rooms, on a normal household circuit.

It is a small, light thing, and the finish is carried across the visible face so it sits comfortably with a lampholder and flex in a similar tone. Dust it now and then with a dry, soft cloth; metal polishes and cream cleaners will rub the aged tone back and are best left in the cupboard. It carries a one year warranty.
