Description

This little metal trinket box takes the form of a white dove with its wings raised high, perched on a dark brown branch with a green leafy sprig held in its beak. Soft blue shading runs through the feathers, the tail and the crown of the head, and a line of clear sparkling stones follows the edge of one wing. A gold coloured band circles the body where the lid meets the base, and the whole piece has a glossy, painted look. It stands 7.5cm tall, 6.6cm wide and 6.6cm deep, small enough to sit in the palm of your hand.

Because the branch forms its own base, the dove stands on a shelf, a dressing table or a bedside table with no extra support, and the raised wings look good from every side. Inside there is room for a ring, a pair of earrings, a spare button or a tiny folded note, so it earns its place as well as looking pretty. It makes a thoughtful Christmas gift, and we think it looks lovely on a mantelpiece among the festive greenery, then moves happily to a bedroom once the decorations come down.
