Description

The Dome 60/01 is a wood pendant light with a wide, dome-shaped shade made of interlocking slats of natural beech wood, rising to a flared neck at the top. The shade is 60cm across and 38cm tall, and it hangs from a matt white canopy 14cm across. Its finish is Matt White & Natural Wood Shade, so the pale wood sits against clean white fittings. Inside is an integrated LED of 12.5W giving 1112 lumens of warm 2700K light, with a CRI of 90 so colours look true, and there is no bulb to buy or change.

We see it most at home in a dining room, hung over the table where its warm light falls on a meal and its open shade is seen from every chair, or in a living room, where one fitting gives the centre of the room real presence. The pale wood suits rooms with natural materials, simple furniture and plain walls, in a modern home or an older one. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms indoors only. It dims by TRIAC, so with a compatible dimmer you can bring it down low for a quiet evening and turn it up again when you need to see what you are doing.

The shade is beech wood in its natural tone, built from many interlocking pieces, and the canopy and fittings are iron and aluminium in matt white. The design is by Benedetta Tagliabue and EMBT, who turned a simple pendant into something closer to a sculpture in wood. It runs on 230V mains power and is wired in to the mains by a qualified electrician. It is a Class I fitting, so it needs an earthed supply. Before the electrician arrives, check that the dimmer you plan to use is compatible with TRIAC dimming.
