Description

This wooden hanging plaque brings a warm, friendly note to any wall in a home shared with dogs. Its rectangular face is a soft purple, with a bone-shaped cut-out near the top edge and the words 'This house is filled with love and paw prints' in pale lettering, the last two words in a flowing script. Along the bottom, four illustrated dogs stand in a row: a small chihuahua, a wiry terrier in a blue neckerchief, a sitting dachshund and a striding dalmatian with a blue bow. The face measures 14.6cm on its longer side and 12.8cm on its shorter, and the board is 0.6cm thick, so it is a compact piece for a narrow stretch of wall.

We like it in a hallway beside the coat hooks and the lead, by the back door where muddy paws come in, or in a kitchen or utility room close to the dog's bed. Its small size means it sits happily on a door, a cupboard end or a strip of panelling, where a larger sign would crowd the space. The soft purple pairs well with white, cream and grey walls, and the illustrated dogs add a gentle burst of colour without shouting. It is made with pets in mind, and it says what every home with a four-legged member of the family already knows.

The plaque is made of wood, with the design across its front, and it hangs from a twisted cord fixed to the top, so a single nail or picture hook is all it needs. Hang it at eye level so the lettering can be read as you pass. Dust it with a soft dry cloth, or wipe it with a barely damp cloth and let it dry. It wraps neatly as a present, and it makes a cheerful gift for a home with a dog at its heart.
