Datai Table Lamp - Terracotta & Gold

The Datai is a 680mm table lamp built around a terracotta ceramic base with hand-applied gold and brown detailing in a repeating oriental lattice pattern. The vase-shaped base sits on a dark wood plinth and supports a 400mm ivory cotton shade with box pleats and black-and-gold trim along the upper and lower edges. An E27 fitting inside the shade accepts bulbs up to 60W (sold separately).

Designed for side tables in living rooms, bedrooms and studies, the Datai provides ambient and task light through the pleated cotton shade, which diffuses the bulb into a warm, low-glare glow. The 400mm shade diameter and 680mm overall height suit console tables, bedside tables and occasional tables where a substantial presence is appropriate without overwhelming the surface. The terracotta base colour and gold detailing work alongside warm-toned interiors and traditional furnishings.

The ceramic base is finished with a semi-gloss glaze that highlights the hand-painted gold and brown lattice overlay. The ivory cotton shade is double-lined to reduce light bleed and maintain the box-pleat structure under heat from the bulb. The black and gold trim at the shade edges ties the colour palette of the base to the fabric, creating visual cohesion between the upper and lower portions of the lamp. At 165mm base diameter, the lamp occupies a modest footprint relative to its height.

What bulb does the Datai take?

The lamp takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for ambient bedside or living room lighting.

Is the shade removable for cleaning?

Yes. The pleated cotton shade lifts off the fitting for dusting or spot-cleaning. The box pleats can be vacuumed gently with an upholstery brush attachment to remove dust buildup.

What surface size does it need?

The 165mm base diameter fits most bedside tables, side tables and console surfaces. The 400mm shade diameter requires clearance of approximately 450mm square to avoid overhanging the edge or sitting too close to walls.

Can the ceramic base be cleaned?

The terracotta ceramic has a semi-gloss glaze that can be wiped with a barely-damp microfibre cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or soaking, as the hand-painted gold detailing may be sensitive to harsh chemicals.
