Description

The Darwin is a single wall light in brass and glass, with a frosted glass shade in the shape of a flame held in a round brass ring by small screws. Its brass arm sweeps down from a round backplate and curves up again to meet the shade, with a scroll turned at its centre and a small finial on top. The frosted glass softens the bulb and spreads a gentle light across the wall. It stands 34cm tall and 11cm wide, and it reaches 32cm out from the wall. We offer it in four finishes: Antique Brass, Antique Silver, Polished Brass and Satin Brass. It takes one E14 bulb of up to 40W, and the bulb is sold separately.

It belongs in a living room, a dining room or a bedroom. A pair either side of a fireplace, a mirror or a bed gives a balanced, even light, and a single one makes a soft reading light beside a favourite chair. The flame shade and scrolled arm have a period character that sits naturally in an older house, though the cleaner Satin Brass and Polished Brass finishes look just as at home in a newer room; Antique Brass and Antique Silver lean towards a lived-in, traditional look. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only. Allow for its 32cm reach where it sits beside a door or in a narrow space.

Each Darwin is made to order for you in Ireland, from brass and glass, in the finish you choose. It is wired in to the mains by a qualified electrician, so it is worth settling where it goes before the electrician arrives. The maker guarantees the fittings it makes for five years from the date of purchase; bulbs are not covered. Choose your finish with the room in mind, since each light is made in the one you order.
