Description

A slim rectangular column in antique brass, this is a base sold ready for a shade of your own choosing. The brass has a softly aged tone that takes the glare off new metal, so it sits quietly against wood, paint and paper rather than pulling the eye. The rectangular section is narrow, so it takes up little room on a crowded shelf. An inline switch on the flex puts control within reach of the table top, and the E27 holder is a common size, so lamps and shade fittings are easy to source.

At 44cm tall before a shade is added, it suits a bedside table, a sideboard or a desk where something bigger would crowd the surface. It works well flanking a mirror, or at either end of a chest of drawers, and it earns its place in a reading corner or on a hall console table. Fit an LED lamp of up to 20W, matched to the shade you settle on; with a dimmable lamp and a compatible dimmer, the light can be taken down low for the evening.

The antique brass finish runs the length of the base, with a mains flex and inline switch trailing from the foot. Keep it looking well with an occasional dry cloth; polishes and spray cleaners bite into an aged finish, so we leave them well alone. It belongs in dry rooms indoors, clear of basins, sinks and splashes. It carries a one year warranty. Shades are a matter of taste here: a small drum or an empire in linen keeps things calm, while a pleated shade gives more to look at. Shade and lamp are both bought separately.
