Cotswold Lane 3 Light Outdoor Hanging Lantern - Black

The Cotswold Lane is a 673mm-tall outdoor pendant lantern with three E14 candle bulb positions inside a black die-cast metal frame fitted with clear bevelled glass panels on four sides. The lantern hangs from a 1200mm black chain (adjustable on installation between 697mm and 2000mm total drop) and is designed after Victorian gas lamp housings, with a ridged pagoda-style top, fluted cornice moulding and a decorative cast bracket at the base.

Designed for covered porches, front door canopies, rear patio overhangs and entrance halls where shelter from direct rainfall exists, the IP23 rating protects against vertically falling water and solid objects larger than 12.5mm — enough for typical UK covered outdoor use but not exposed positions. The 305mm width suits entrances 1.5-2.5m wide where the lantern needs to fill the space proportionally without overwhelming doorways narrower than 1.2m. The clear bevelled glass maximises light throw from the three bulbs (sold separately, max 60W each, filament-style candles recommended for period aesthetic).

The die-cast metal frame weighs approximately 3.5kg and requires a ceiling hook or joist fixing capable of supporting at least 6kg once bulbs and chain are included. The black finish is a powder-coated semi-matt that resists UV fade and surface corrosion better than wet paint. The bevelled edges on the glass panels refract light into prismatic patterns when the bulbs are lit, which gives more visual interest than flat panes when viewed from inside looking out through windows at dusk.

Can this be used in fully exposed outdoor positions?

No. The IP23 rating protects against vertically falling water and objects larger than 12.5mm, which suits covered porches and canopies but not positions exposed to wind-driven rain or horizontal water ingress. For fully exposed locations an IP44 or IP65-rated fitting is needed.

What bulbs are recommended?

Three E14 candle bulbs up to 60W each (sold separately). For period authenticity use clear filament-style LED candles around 4-6W and 2200K-2700K warm white. The clear bevelled glass works best with visible-filament bulbs rather than frosted types.

How is the drop adjusted?

The 1200mm chain is adjustable on installation by removing links to shorten the total drop. Minimum drop is 697mm (lantern height plus canopy), maximum is 2000mm. Once installed the drop is fixed until the chain is altered again.

What ceiling fixing is required?

The lantern weighs approximately 3.5kg. A ceiling hook or joist fixing rated for at least 6kg is recommended to account for the weight of the chain and three bulbs. Hollow ceiling voids require a toggle fixing or beam anchor.
