Description

The Copenhagen is an outdoor pendant light with a galley-style shade in silver powder-coated 304 stainless steel, suspended on an adjustable chain from a matching ceiling canopy. A clear glass cylinder sits at the centre of the shade, housing an E27 bulb (sold separately) and protected by a metal cage guard. The fitting carries an IP44 rating for water and dust resistance, making it suitable for covered porches, pergolas, and coastal outdoor areas where salt air and moisture are present.

Designed for installation under covered outdoor ceilings, the Copenhagen works above entryways, on front porches, over patio dining areas, and along covered walkways where both decorative and functional light is needed. The chain length can be shortened on installation to suit ceiling heights between 2.2m and 3m, with the pendant typically hung 1.8-2m above ground level to provide headroom clearance. The clear glass allows full light output from the bulb while the metal shade prevents glare from above.

The 304-grade stainless steel construction resists corrosion in coastal and damp environments better than mild steel or aluminium fittings, and the powder-coated silver finish adds a protective layer over the metal without concealing the industrial cage detail. The lantern-style proportions give the pendant a nautical or Scandinavian coastal character that pairs with both traditional weatherboard and contemporary rendered exteriors. The E27 lamp holder accepts any standard screw bulb up to 60W, allowing choice of warm or cool light temperature depending on the outdoor setting.

The IP44 rating protects against water splashing from any direction and dust ingress, but the pendant is designed for covered installation such as under porch ceilings, pergolas or eaves. It is not rated for fully exposed areas where it would face direct rainfall or submersion.

What bulb does it take?

The pendant takes a standard E27 Edison screw bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most outdoor installations pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for a welcoming entrance light.

Is the chain adjustable?

Yes. The chain can be shortened during installation by removing links to suit your ceiling height. The pendant is typically hung 1.8-2m above ground level to maintain headroom clearance under covered outdoor ceilings.

How is the stainless steel maintained?

Wipe the powder-coated steel with a damp cloth to remove salt deposits and coastal grime. For stubborn marks, a mild soapy water solution can be used. Avoid abrasive cleaners that could damage the powder coating. The 304 stainless steel underneath is corrosion-resistant even if the coating is scratched.
