Description

The Coniston is a 4-light crystal wall light built around a French gold frame with seven tiers of faceted crystal droplets arranged in a cascading structure. Each tier holds between 10 and 20 individual crystals depending on the row, all front-lit by four G9 bulbs mounted inside the gold backplate. The IP44 rating allows installation in bathroom zones 2 and 3, making it suitable for positions away from direct spray but within the bathroom environment.

Designed for bathrooms with traditional, classical or Art Deco interiors, the Coniston works above a vanity mirror where it provides task lighting for grooming while the crystals diffuse the light across the room. The 230mm width and 290mm height suit double-basin vanities or larger mirrors in bathrooms with wall space of 1.5m or wider. The 140mm projection from the wall places the crystal tiers far enough forward to catch ambient daylight through bathroom windows, adding sparkle even when the bulbs are off.

The French gold finish is a warm metallic tone between polished brass and antique brass, with a slight satin sheen that reduces harsh reflections under bathroom lighting. The faceted crystals are cut glass rather than acrylic, giving sharper refraction and more defined light scatter than moulded alternatives. At 2.5kg the fitting requires secure fixing to a solid wall or into timber studs behind plasterboard — the weight comes from the metal frame and the density of the glass crystals combined.

What does the IP44 rating mean for bathroom installation?

IP44 means the fitting is protected against splashing water from any direction. In UK bathroom zones this allows installation in zones 2 and 3 — typically above a basin, on walls adjacent to the bath, or in areas more than 60cm from the bath or shower enclosure. It cannot be installed within the shower enclosure itself or directly above a bathtub (zone 1).

What bulbs does it take?

The Coniston takes four G9 capsule bulbs, each up to 10W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users fit warm white LED G9 bulbs at 2700K-3000K and 4-6W per bulb for bathroom task lighting. Dimmable bulbs are required if you want dimming functionality.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, but only if you fit dimmable G9 LED bulbs and pair them with a compatible dimmer switch. The fitting itself supports dimming; the outcome depends on the bulb and dimmer combination.

How is the crystal cleaned?

Wipe each crystal droplet with a dry microfibre cloth to remove dust and water spots. For stubborn marks a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable. Avoid spraying household cleaners directly onto the crystals or the gold frame, as aerosol residue can dull the finish over time.
