Coniston 2 Light Crystal Bathroom Wall Light - French Gold

The Coniston is a 200mm crystal wall light with a French gold frame holding four tiers of clear faceted crystal droplets in a cascading formation, lit by two G9 bulbs (sold separately). The IP44 rating makes it safe for bathroom zones 2 and 3, outside the shower enclosure but within the wet-room environment. Each tier of crystals overlaps like scales, catching and refracting light from the G9 capsule bulbs behind the frame.

Designed for bathroom vanity walls, hallways and powder rooms with classical or traditional interiors, the Coniston works as a single accent near a mirror or in pairs flanking a basin. The 110mm projection from the wall provides clearance without obstructing narrow corridors or tight vanity spaces. The 200mm height and width give sufficient presence for a small-to-medium bathroom without dominating compact rooms under 5m².

The French gold finish is a warm mid-tone gold with slight antiquing, softer than polished brass and less reflective than chrome, pairing naturally with warm whites, creams and traditional bathroom fittings. The crystal droplets are press-moulded K9 optical glass, faceted to create defined prismatic effects when lit. The fitting weighs 1.7kg once crystals are hung, requiring secure fixing into solid wall or suitable wall plugs for plasterboard.

What does the IP44 rating mean for bathroom installation?

IP44 certifies protection against water splashes from any direction. The Coniston can be installed in bathroom zones 2 and 3 — outside the shower enclosure but within the general bathroom space. It cannot be installed directly above a bath or inside a shower (which require IP65 or higher).

What bulbs does it take?

The fitting takes two G9 capsule bulbs up to 10W each, sold separately. Most users pair this with 4-6W warm-white LED G9 bulbs at 2700K-3000K for ambient bathroom lighting. Dimmable bulbs are required if fitting to a dimmer circuit.

How is it fitted to the wall?

The backplate fixes to the wall with two screws, concealed once the crystal frame is clipped on. The 1.7kg total weight requires secure fixing into solid masonry or suitable plasterboard anchors rated to 5kg minimum. Standard UK bathroom wall wiring connects to the backplate terminals before the decorative frame is attached.

Can I clean the crystals?

Yes. The crystal droplets detach from the frame for cleaning. Wipe each piece with a dry microfibre cloth or, for stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water. Dry thoroughly before re-hanging to avoid water spots affecting the prismatic effect when lit.
