Description

A plain round downlight in matt white, small enough to read as a neat circle overhead rather than something the eye stops on. The rim is shallow and unfussy, with no applied detail to catch dust. It takes a single GU10 lamp behind a 75mm aperture, and the lampholder is supplied in place, so the lamp is the only thing left to choose. We would use a wide LED reflector for general lighting and a tighter beam where you want pools of light along a worktop.

It is sealed against dust and splashed water, so it earns its place in bathrooms, shower rooms, kitchens and utility rooms where steam and wet hands are ordinary. It suits a hallway or an open-plan kitchen just as well, and the small aperture means a run of them reads as dots of light rather than a row of fittings. The lamp can draw up to 12W, and dimming is possible if you fit a dimmable lamp and pair it with a suitable dimmer. We suggest it where a room needs even, quiet coverage from several points instead of a bright centre point.

The body is compact and light in the hand, and it is double insulated. Matt white keeps it close to the tone of a painted ceiling, so the fitting recedes and the light is what you notice. Cleaning takes a barely damp cloth over the rim, with the power off and the lamp cold; keep solvents and abrasive creams away from the paint. It carries a two year warranty.
