The Comareira is a cascade pendant of 40 lights. Each light is a slim black nickel holder beneath a crossed pair of faceted clear glass pieces, hanging on a long black cord from a round ceiling plate. The drops fall in a loose spiral, so the light reads as one sculpted column rather than a cluster of separate pendants. It stands 500cm tall overall and 78cm across, with a steel body in a black nickel finish and shades of clear brilliant glass. Each of the 40 lights runs on integrated LEDs at 2.1W and gives 220 lumens, and because the LEDs are integrated there are no bulbs to buy. It is rated IP20, which settles where it goes: indoors, in a dry room.

A light of this height wants a tall space, such as a stairwell, a double-height hallway or an atrium, where the spiral can be seen from more than one level. Faceted glass breaks light into small points of sparkle, so the drops glint as you climb the stairs or look down from a landing. The black nickel holders and black cords keep the look crisp against pale walls, and the clean cylinders sit comfortably in modern and classic homes alike. It suits anyone who would rather have one centrepiece for a tall stairwell than a row of smaller lights.

As a wired-in mains light, it should be installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a download.
