Clorbelle Smoked Glass Linear Pendant Light - Black

The Clorbelle is a linear pendant light that hangs three smoked glass globes from a single black steel bar, each globe held inside an open geometric wire cage. It is 114.5cm long, 32.5cm wide and 110cm high overall, a size that suits a long surface rather than a single spot. Each of the three lampholders takes an E27 bulb of up to 40W, and the bulbs are not included, which leaves the colour and warmth of the light to you. It is rated IP20, so it belongs indoors in a dry room.

We like it over a dining table, a kitchen island or a long sideboard, where the three shades spread their light along the surface instead of gathering it in one place. The smoked glass softens the glow of each bulb, and the black wire cages draw crisp lines against a pale ceiling, so the light earns its keep even when it is unlit. It suits an industrial or modern scheme, sitting easily beside black hardware, dark timber and concrete. There is no switch on the fitting itself; it is switched at the wall like any other ceiling light, which keeps the cords and the bar uncluttered.

The body is steel in a black finish, and the shades are vaporised glass in a black-transparent tone, so the outline of the bulb shows softly through a smoky veil. It runs on 220-240V, 50/60Hz mains, and as a light wired into the ceiling it is installed by a qualified electrician. It weighs 4.55KG packed, and the installation instructions are available as a download. Because the bulbs are yours to choose, a warm white E27 bulb within the 40W maximum gives the gentlest glow through the smoked glass and keeps the cages looking their best after dark.
