Description
The Clernanne love seat is a low outdoor chair built from chunky acacia, 95cm across and 93cm from front to back. Vertical slats fill the sides, a squared arm rail runs front to back above them, and the whole frame sits on a solid plinth base carried on four square legs. One deep seat cushion and one long back cushion come with it, in a natural cotton and jute fabric.
It is made to live outside, on a terrace, beside a pool or in a gravelled corner. At 95 by 93cm it takes most of a metre of floor in both directions, and the back frame stands only 72cm high, lower than a dining chair and about level with a side table set beside it. One takes a small terrace on its own. Two face each other across a low table, and it is built to sit alongside the Clernanne outdoor sofa.
The frame is acacia, a hardwood with a high oil content and a strongly marked grain that runs from light amber through to dark mahogany and deepens over time. Variation in colour, shading and grain between different parts of one piece is how the timber comes, and so are knots and the fine cracks that open along the grain once it has been out in the weather. The cushions are 58 per cent cotton and 42 per cent jute in a water resistant weave. The Clernanne range also holds an outdoor sofa.

Frequently Asked
Can it stay outside?
The frame is made for outdoor use. The cushions are water repellent rather than fully weatherproof, so they should not be left out in showers or heavy rain, or left outdoors overnight.
Are the cushions included?
Yes. A seat cushion and a back cushion come with it, in a fabric of 58 per cent cotton and 42 per cent jute.
How much room does it need?
95cm across and 93cm from front to back, standing 72cm to the top of the back frame. It weighs 43.4kg.
Will the wood change colour?
Yes. Acacia runs from light amber to dark mahogany and the tone deepens over time. Variation between different parts of the same piece is normal, and so are knots.
How do I look after it?
A yearly clean with warm water lifts algae and pollution off the timber. Do not use abrasive or corrosive cleaning products. Storing it somewhere dry over the winter months prolongs its life, and the cushions are spot clean only.
