Description
Our clear LED golf ball bulb is a small, rounded globe of clear glass with two slim LED filaments standing upright either side of a central glass stem, all set on a silver-coloured E27 screw cap. It draws just 2.2W and runs at mains voltage, so it screws straight into an ordinary E27 lampholder with no separate transformer to find. At 2700K it gives a warm white light, the soft golden tone that suits a room in the evening, and its Energy Class is E.
Because the glass is clear, the filaments are part of the look, so this bulb is at its best wherever it can be seen: an open shade, a bare pendant, a cage light or a wall light with a clear glass shade. The compact golf ball shape slips into smaller fittings where a full-size bulb would crowd the shade, and it works well in a row of lights over a dining table or along a kitchen island. If you have several fittings that take an E27 cap, we find a matching set of these bulbs gives the whole room one even, warm tone.
The bulb itself is a clear glass envelope on a silver-coloured metal screw cap, with a small black tip at its base. Inside, the two filaments are held on fine wires from the central stem, which is what gives a filament bulb its delicate, old-fashioned look. To keep it looking crisp, wipe the glass with a soft dry cloth once the light is off and cool. Before you order, check that your lampholder takes an E27 cap, the larger of the common household screw caps.
