Description

The Clares is a thirteen light pendant in a bronze finish, its drops gathered beneath a round ceiling canopy. Some of the drops are solid bronze cylinders and others are ribbed clear glass tubes with bronze caps. They hang at differing lengths, so the cluster reads as a staggered column of light. It measures 300cm in overall height and 58cm in diameter. The light source is integrated LED with an output of 5,200 lumens, so there are no bulbs to buy or change. It is rated IP20, which settles where it goes: indoors, in a dry room.

With that much output, it suits a room that needs plenty of light and a strong centrepiece: over a dining table, in a hallway or stairwell with a tall ceiling, or above an open-plan kitchen and living space. Because it dims and its colour temperature adjusts, the same pendant can give a brighter, crisper light while you cook or lay the table and a softer, warmer one once everyone has sat down to eat. The mix of solid bronze and ribbed glass drops means it looks considered in daylight, when it is not lit, which matters in a room you walk through every day.

The body is steel and glass, and the bronze colour carries from the canopy down to the caps on the glass drops. Brightness and colour temperature are both set from the remote control that comes in the box, and the remote takes a CR2032 coin cell. It runs on 220-240V, 50/60Hz mains. As a wired-in ceiling light it is installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions are supplied as a download. Glass wipes clean with a soft, dry cloth, and the ribs of the glass tubes are worth a gentle dust. It weighs 11.1KG packed, so plan on two pairs of hands when it arrives.
