Description

The Cimoneri-E is a compact outdoor wall light in white, with a plastic body and a white plastic shade. Its front is a softly curved hood cut through by three horizontal louvres, set over an opal diffuser that softens the bulb behind it. It stands 23cm high, 8cm wide and 8cm long, and weighs 0.22KG. The light source is a single E14 bulb, which is not included, so the brightness and colour of the light are yours to choose. Rated IP44, it is protected from splashing water, so it lives outdoors on a house wall.

Its slim, upright shape suits spots where a wall has little room to spare: beside a front door, along a side passage, next to garden steps or by a back door that opens onto a patio. We think a pair either side of an entrance gives a tidy, balanced look, and the clean white finish sits comfortably against pale render, painted brick or timber cladding. Because it is so light and small, it is an easy choice for a porch or a narrow stretch of wall where anything bulkier would crowd the space. It suits anyone who wants a plain, modern outdoor light that does its job quietly and looks neat by day and after dark.

Plastic does not rust, which counts for a lot on an exposed outside wall, and both the body and the shade are white, so the whole fitting reads as one clean piece. There is no switch on the light itself: it is switched at the wall, so you control it from a wall switch like any other wired light. As a wired mains light, it should be installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions are available as a download. Once it is fitted, pick an E14 bulb in the warmth of light you prefer and it is ready for the evenings.
