Description

The Knightsbridge Chrome Hole Converter Kit is a 140mm polished chrome pressed steel adapter that converts ceiling cut-outs ranging from 78mm to 120mm diameter to accept either GU10 230V mains downlights or MR16 12V low-voltage downlights. The kit includes a bridge connector ring, a GU10 lampholder and an MR16 lampholder, allowing it to be used as a retrofit solution when replacing old downlights with different fitting diameters or when repurposing ceiling holes for new lighting installations.

Designed for domestic and commercial ceiling installations where the existing ceiling aperture is too large for the replacement downlight fitting, the converter sits flush to the ceiling surface and presents a 140mm polished chrome trim ring that covers the original hole. The 12mm projection from the ceiling surface is minimal, making it suitable for rooms with standard or low ceiling heights where a deep recess fitting would reduce headroom or interfere with insulation above the ceiling.

The pressed steel construction provides structural rigidity while keeping the unit lightweight enough to be supported by the ceiling board without requiring additional ceiling joists or support brackets. The polished chrome finish matches standard downlight trim rings and blends with both contemporary and traditional interior schemes. The included bridge connector secures the converter ring to the ceiling hole edge, and the dual lampholder provision means the same converter can be used for either mains-voltage GU10 bulbs or low-voltage MR16 bulbs depending on the existing wiring and transformer setup.

Does it include the bulb and lampholder?

The kit includes both a GU10 230V mains lampholder and an MR16 12V low-voltage lampholder, plus the bridge connector. Bulbs are not included and must be purchased separately.

Can it be used with both GU10 and MR16 bulbs?

Yes. The kit provides both lampholder types, so you can choose which to install depending on your existing ceiling wiring. Use the GU10 lampholder for direct mains voltage installations, or the MR16 lampholder if you have a low-voltage transformer already fitted.

Is additional ceiling support needed?

No. The pressed steel construction is lightweight and the 12mm projection means the converter can be supported by standard plasterboard ceilings without requiring additional joists or brackets. The bridge connector secures the unit to the ceiling hole edge.
