Description
This speckled stoneware plate takes the shape of a Christmas tree, from its pointed top down through stepped tiers of branches to a small square trunk. The glaze is a soft off white with a gentle sheen, flecked with tiny dark speckles that give it a relaxed, homely look, and a fine warm-toned line runs along the very edge of the rim. It measures 27cm from the tip of the tree to the trunk, 26cm across its widest branches and 3cm deep, so it sits low with a shallow raised rim that follows every step of the outline.
It is made for Christmas, when a plate shaped like the tree suits the season without a single bauble. We like it on the table for Christmas lunch, on a sideboard or kitchen dresser through December, or brought out with festive treats when friends call round. The off white glaze sits happily with a white and silver scheme, and it looks as good beside warmer reds and golds or plenty of fresh green foliage. At 26cm across it is generous enough for a handful of seasonal bakes yet easy to pass from hand to hand around the room. It also makes a thoughtful Christmas gift, and one that comes out year after year once the decorations go up.
Stoneware is a dense ceramic, and the speckled off white glaze covers the face of the plate and the inside of its rim. To look after it, we suggest washing it gently by hand in warm soapy water and drying it with a soft cloth, then storing it flat between seasons. Because it lies flat and takes little room, it tucks into a cupboard with the rest of the Christmas things. For a finished table, set it at the centre with candles either side, or give it with a note tucked under a ribbon as a cheerful start to the festive season.

Frequently Asked
How big is the Christmas tree plate?
It measures 27cm from the tip of the tree to the trunk, 26cm across its widest branches and 3cm deep, with a shallow raised rim all the way round.
What is the plate made of?
The plate is made of stoneware, a dense ceramic, finished in a soft off white glaze flecked with tiny dark speckles.
What colour is the plate?
It is off white with tiny dark speckles through the glaze and a fine warm-toned line along the edge of the rim, so it suits a white and silver Christmas scheme.
How should I clean the stoneware plate?
We suggest washing it gently by hand in warm soapy water, drying it with a soft cloth and storing it flat between seasons.
Can I use it as a decoration rather than on the table?
Yes, it sits low and flat, so it looks just as good set out on a sideboard, dresser or kitchen shelf through December as it does on the Christmas table.
Does it make a good Christmas gift?
We think so. A plate shaped like a Christmas tree is a thoughtful gift that comes out every December, whether for festive treats or simply on display.
