Description

This christening photo frame is made from cream ceramic in a soft arch, with the words "on your christening" foiled in silver along the base and scattered with small silver stars. The window follows the same arch and holds a single 6 x 4in photograph. There is no mount to trim around, so a standard print goes straight in from the back. The frame stands 20.1cm tall, 14.1cm wide and 2cm deep, a size that sits happily on a shelf or bedside table without crowding it, and the cream and silver pairing is gentle enough to suit almost any nursery colour scheme.

We see it as a keepsake for a baby's first years, chosen to mark the christening day itself. A favourite photograph from the service, the font or the family gathered afterwards looks lovely in the arched window. It makes a thoughtful christening gift from godparents, grandparents or close friends, and something the parents can keep in the nursery as their little one grows. Because the frame is freestanding, it needs no wall and no fixings: set it on a chest of drawers, a windowsill or a bookshelf in the baby's room, or on a mantelpiece where visiting family will see it.

At the back, a black backing board is held by two small turn clips, so changing the photograph takes only a moment, and an easel stand holds the frame upright. The silver lettering and stars are foiled onto the ceramic, so keep them away from scourers and cleaning sprays. As general good practice, dust the frame with a soft dry cloth and wipe the ceramic with a lightly damp cloth when needed, keeping moisture away from the photograph inside. For a gift, slip a print from the day into the frame before you wrap it, so it is ready to stand on a shelf the moment it is opened.
