Description
The Choice Plus is a wall-mounted electronic room thermostat with a tamper-proof cover secured by a security Torx screw, preventing unauthorised adjustment in shared spaces. The thermostat controls heating systems via a 10A switch rating at 240V AC and uses an electronic sensor for temperature measurement across a 5°C to 30°C adjustment range.
Designed for installation in care homes, student accommodation, rental properties, commercial offices and public buildings where thermostats need to remain locked to a set temperature, the Choice Plus prevents manual override while still allowing maintenance access. The large dial behind the cover allows quick temperature changes when the cover is removed, and the electronic sensor responds faster than mechanical bimetal thermostats to room temperature changes.
The TPI (Time Proportional and Integral) control algorithm cycles the heating on and off in shorter bursts as the room nears the target temperature, reducing overshoot and improving efficiency compared to simple on/off switching. The 0.5°C and 1°C temperature swing settings determine how close to the target temperature the room must reach before the heating switches off, with the tighter 0.5°C swing giving more consistent temperatures at the cost of slightly more frequent cycling.
The matt black finish on the 90mm x 92mm faceplate suits commercial and modern residential interiors without drawing attention. The thermostat mounts to a standard UK single-gang back box and requires neutral and live wiring to the heating system relay or zone valve.

Frequently Asked
What does tamper-proof mean for this thermostat?
The thermostat has a protective cover that clips over the adjustment dial and is secured by a security Torx screw. This prevents occupants or visitors from changing the temperature setting without the correct Torx driver. The cover is removable for authorised maintenance and temperature changes.
What is TPI control and how does it improve efficiency?
TPI (Time Proportional and Integral) control cycles the heating on and off in shorter, more frequent bursts as the room temperature approaches the target. This reduces temperature overshoot and keeps the room closer to the set temperature compared to simple on/off thermostats, which typically allow wider temperature swings.
What's the difference between 0.5°C and 1°C temperature swing?
The temperature swing setting determines how close the room temperature must get to the target before the heating switches off. A 0.5°C swing gives tighter temperature control with more frequent cycling. A 1°C swing allows slightly wider temperature variation with less frequent switching, which may suit some heating systems better.
Can this control underfloor heating or zone valves?
Yes, provided the total load is within the 10A at 240V AC switch rating. The thermostat can control motorised zone valves, underfloor heating manifold actuators, or relays for boiler switching. Check the load current of your specific heating system before wiring.
