Description

The Chelsie is a 38cm diameter spherical pendant light built from a lattice of antique brass metalwork with an inner cage of suspended glass bead strands. A single E27 bulb (sold separately, up to 100W) sits at the centre of the sphere, casting light outward through the bead strands and the metal lattice pattern. The antique brass finish has a darker, aged patina that contrasts with the clear glass beads.

Designed for dining tables, kitchen islands, and hallway drops, the Chelsie works in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or higher. The drop is adjustable from a minimum of 380mm to a maximum of 1500mm on installation, allowing the pendant to be set 700-900mm above a dining surface or lower for entrance halls and voids. The spherical frame measures 380mm in diameter, providing enough visual mass to anchor a space without dominating smaller dining areas.

The glass beads hang in vertical strands inside the metal framework, creating a layered diffusion effect when the bulb is lit. Light catches the facets of each bead and refracts through them, producing soft ambient scatter rather than direct downward illumination. The antique brass metalwork has a brushed, slightly tarnished appearance rather than a high-polish finish, giving the pendant a warmer tone than polished brass or chrome equivalents. The entire fitting weighs 1.9kg and requires a ceiling rose capable of supporting that load plus the weight of the bulb.

What bulb does it take?

The Chelsie takes a single E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 100W, sold separately. Most buyers pair it with a 6-10W warm white LED bulb at 2700K-3000K to complement the antique brass finish and provide ambient dining light.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, provided you use a dimmable bulb and a compatible dimmer switch. The fitting itself has no electronic components that would prevent dimming. Check the bulb packaging for dimmer compatibility before purchase.

How is the drop adjusted?

The cable length is adjustable during installation, allowing the pendant to be set anywhere between 380mm and 1500mm from the ceiling. Once installed, the length is fixed unless re-wired.

How is the beaded glass cleaned?

Switch off and allow the bulb to cool. Wipe the glass beads gently with a dry microfibre cloth. For stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable, but avoid soaking the beads or using chemical sprays. The antique brass frame can be wiped with a dry cloth — polishing it will remove the aged patina.
