Description
Chassis XL Black is a free standing mirror 170cm high by 65cm wide, built as an open black metal frame that stands on the floor on a splayed foot rather than hanging. A shelf of solid oak is set horizontally inside the frame about a third of the way up, and the top rail is open, so a hanger sits on it. The mirror is double sided and the two faces differ: the front is clear mirrored glass and the back is black. The design is by Simon de Smet and Timothy Macken.
It stands on the floor rather than hanging, so it wants a spot chosen for it: clear of a doorway, with room to walk round the back where the black face is visible. Nothing is fixed to the wall and no fixings are supplied, so it can be moved without leaving anything behind. It is not rated for bathroom use, so keep it to a bedroom, a dressing area or a hallway. At 25kg it is a two person lift. The frame is 32cm deep at the floor and tapers towards the top, which is what lets it stand without a foot plate bolted on.
The materials are double sided clear and black mirrored glass, a solid oak shelf and a black metal frame. Clean both faces with cleaner sprayed onto a soft cloth, dust the oak dry and keep standing water off it. The oak shelf is cut as a trapezoid that narrows towards the back, following the taper of the frame, so it sits flush rather than overhanging. The same design is made with a green marble shelf and a gold frame, which is a heavier piece and is rated for bathroom use where this one is not. Seven year warranty, made in Belgium.

Frequently Asked
Does it hang on the wall?
No. It stands on the floor on a splayed foot. No fixings are supplied or needed.
What is the shelf made of?
Solid oak, cut as a trapezoid that narrows towards the back to follow the taper of the frame.
Are both sides mirrored?
Yes. The front is clear mirrored glass and the back is black, so the two faces differ.
Can it be used in a bathroom?
No. This version is not rated for bathroom use, so keep it to dry rooms.
Can clothes hang on it?
Yes. The top rail is open, so a hanger sits on it, and the shelf below takes smaller things.
Is another version made?
Yes, with a green marble shelf and a gold frame. That one is heavier and is rated for bathroom use.
