Chassis XL Deluxe is a free standing mirror 170cm high by 65cm wide, built as an open gold metal frame that stands on the floor on a splayed foot rather than hanging. A shelf of green marble is set horizontally inside the frame about a third of the way up, and the top rail is open, so a garment can hang from it. The mirror is double sided and the two faces differ: the front is clear mirrored glass and the back is grey. The design is by Simon de Smet and Timothy Macken.
It stands on the floor rather than hanging, so it needs a spot chosen for it: away from a doorway, with room to walk round the back where the grey face is visible. Nothing is fixed to the wall and no fixings are supplied, which also means it can be moved without leaving anything behind. The shelf and the open top rail make it a dressing piece rather than only a mirror, somewhere to put a watch down or hang tomorrow morning. It is rated bathroom proof. At 35kg it is a two person lift and the marble edges want protecting in transit. A black framed version is also made, with a solid oak shelf in place of the marble.
The materials are double sided clear and grey mirrored glass, a green marble shelf and a gold finished metal frame. Clean both faces with cleaner sprayed onto a soft cloth. Marble is porous, so wipe spills off the shelf promptly rather than leaving them, and keep acidic cleaners away from it entirely. The frame is a slim open rectangle rather than a solid surround, so the marble and the two mirrored faces do the work and the metal reads as a line. Seven year warranty, made in Europe.
