Description

A garland of pressed metal leaves, 120cm from end to end and 11cm across at its widest, carried on a wire stem with a hanging loop worked into each end. Every leaf is stamped with its vein pattern and pierced between the veins, so the metal reads as filigree rather than as a flat cut-out. The whole garland weighs 0.15kg.

One hundred and twenty centimetres is a table length rather than a doorway one, so it lies along a runner rather than hanging. Laid flat, the pierced leaves throw their own shadow onto the table beneath. The loops at each end take a pin or a hook if it goes up instead.

The metal is iron under an antique brass finish. Each leaf is pressed and each stem bent by hand, so the leaves sit at different angles along every garland and no two lay quite the same way. A matching Charita wreath is made in the same leaf, 42cm across.
