Description

The Chamonix is a 240mm rectangular outdoor wall and ceiling light built around a layered frame design: an anthracite powder-coated aluminium outer frame holds a clear polycarbonate inner casing, which in turn surrounds an opal diffuser. This triple-layer construction gives the fitting depth and dimensionality when viewed from an angle, and produces a soft halo of light around the diffuser when lit. An integrated 9W LED inside the diffuser casts 725 lumens of 3000K warm white light through a 132° beam angle.

Designed for exterior wall mounting on porches, covered patios, front entrances and garage exteriors, the Chamonix carries an IP65 rating — fully sealed against dust and protected against water jets from any direction. The fitting can also be mounted on ceilings under covered walkways and canopies. The 100mm projection from the wall and 240mm height suit standard porch and doorway installations where a modern, architectural profile is preferred over traditional lantern-style fittings.

The anthracite finish is a dark charcoal grey with a slightly textured powder coat that resists weathering and UV fade. The outer frame's rectangular geometry creates visible shadow lines at dawn and dusk, adding visual interest to flat façades. The 132° beam angle throws light across a wide spread, making a single fitting effective for illuminating doorstep areas up to 2m wide. The non-dimmable LED runs on 100-240V mains, compatible with standard UK wiring and international voltages.

Yes. The Chamonix is designed for both wall and ceiling mounting. When ceiling-mounted the rectangular frame sits flush to the surface and the light casts downward. When wall-mounted the 100mm projection directs light forward and outward from the wall plane.

What does IP65 mean for outdoor use?

IP65 confirms the fitting is fully dust-sealed and protected against water jets from any direction. This makes it suitable for exposed porches, open patios and areas where rain may hit the fitting directly. It is not submersible and should not be installed in locations where water pools around the base.

Is the LED replaceable?

No. The LED is integrated into the fitting and not user-replaceable. The LED is rated for approximately 25,000 hours of operation, which equates to around 10-15 years of typical evening use before noticeable degradation.

What colour is anthracite compared to black?

Anthracite is a dark charcoal grey, lighter than matt black but darker than standard grey. Under daylight it reads as a warm grey-black, and under artificial light it appears closer to black. The powder-coated finish has a slightly textured surface that softens reflections.
