The Cascinetta is an outdoor wall light with a clear glass cylinder held between the top and bottom plates of a rectangular black frame, open at the sides so the glass and the bulb stay in view. The body is zinc-plated steel in a black finish, and it stands 28cm high, 16.5cm in length and 16.5cm out from the wall. It takes one E27 bulb of up to 40W, not included, so you choose the glow yourself. Rated IP54, it is protected against dust and splashing water, which settles where it can go: outdoors on a house wall, rain and all.

We would put it beside a front door, either side of a garage or along a garden wall, anywhere people walk and arrive after dark. You get clear light at the door for finding keys and greeting visitors. The frame gives a crisp, architectural outline that sits well against render, brick or timber cladding. Because the glass is clear, your bulb does most of the talking: a clear filament bulb shows its glowing strands through the cylinder, while a frosted one gives a softer, more even light across a doorstep. A pair either side of a door looks balanced without crowding a narrow porch.

There is no switch on the light itself: it is switched at the wall. It runs on 220-240V, 50/60Hz mains as a wired-in fitting, so it should be installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a download.
